Ingredients and services for the formulation
of lubricants and industrial fluids
Until the 19th century, natural oils and fats were the raw materials used
as lubricants. At the beginning of the 20th century, it has been found that
natural esters (triglycerides) could not meet the requirements of combustion
engines: with the availability of mineral oil, natural esters virtually disappeared
from the market.
During the second half of the 20th century, oleochemical industry has been
able to produce high quality natural fatty acids from triglycerides and to
esterify them with alcohols so as to offer a very wide range of new esters.
By careful selection of fatty acids and alcohols, it has been possible to produce
esters with the required properties for the application intended.
In the last two decades, the requirements for environmentally acceptable
lubricants and industrial fluids contributed to the development of esters markets.
The list of applications for Lumar oleochemical esters is extremely important.
Whatever the property you are looking for (volatility, oxidation stability, elastomer
seals compatibility, solvency, friction behavior, surfactancy, lubricity,
biodegradability) we will be able to offer you the right ester.
